AINSLEY PAIGE BENTLEY

Yessss, after a long anticipated wait, she is finally here.! She was born on Saturday, July 12th at 7:10 p.m. weighing 7 lbs 13 oz. She was 19 1/2" long, but at her 5 day pediatrician visit, she was only 19". She lost a half of an inch of her little conehead. Ü She has gorgeous dark hair, and has a very sweet temperment already. At times she looks a lot like Darci, then the next day she looks a lot like Josh.
The labor seemed like it was going to go by fast. Darci was admitted to the hospital on Friday night, and was told she would get a sleeping pill so she could sleep that night. That didn't happen. They started her on the PIT at 4:00am, but no real hard labor pains had begun for a while. They popped her water at about *;30am, and she got her epidural at 9:00am, and by the time that Jim and I got there at about noon, she was already between a 7-8. WOW, this is going to go by fast.! A little less than 2 hours later she was at a 9 1/2, so they decided to let her start pushing to get that last piece of cervix out of the way. Well, after 4 1/2 hours of hard pushing, and not really getting anywhere, Ainsley was finally delivered by forceps. I'll let Darci and Josh decide what parts of the birth they would like to share on their blog, so you'll have to peek at theirs. But from our point of view, she's a darling baby, and we love her a lot already.!
Grandma felt an instant bond as the photographer was man-handling my newest sweet granddaughter. (Long story) She told Darci the next day after she took her pictures, "Your mom hates me". I'll tell you what lady, you don't man-handle my granddaughter, and I won't have THAT look on my face. (You know THAT look, the look that can kill)
OK, enough of that. (Blood pressure is rising just thinking about it)
Ainsley was very lucky to have both sets of grandparents there. She got lots of love from Grandma and Grandpa Bentley, Grandma and Grandpa Maxwell, Aunt Janelle, Uncle Joel, Uncle Landon, Cousin McKenna, and Cousin Hailee.
We love her lots.!

Landon, Landon, Landon

The past couple of weeks have been all about Landon. First off, we're happy to say that he is officially an Eagle Scout.! We are SO proud of him and his effort to get that completed. He has received 4 letters of congratulations from Congressman Chris Cannon, Senator Orrin Hatch, Senator Robert Bennett, and Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff. What an accomplishment.!
Jim surprised Landon by flying out to Utah on May 22nd, so he could watch Landon and his team complete at the state track meet. They fried that weekend, but it was all worth it since Juab took 1st place.! They were SO excited...it hadn't been done for 10 years. So of course they got the traditional ride into Nephi complete with fire engines, police cars and ambulances...now that's a fun thing to be a part of.
Jim flew back into Arizona first thing Monday morning, and went straight to work. We then took off that following Thursday. We stayed in Flagstaff for two days so Jim could get some work done. While he was working, I checked out a few place that Josh and Darci had asked me to look at. They found a nice apartment complex in a beautiful part of Flag, only a few miles from his school.
We then headed to Utah on Saturday, and stayed in a bed and breakfast there. We met up with Landon in Richfield on Sunday, so Jim could 'train' him at his new job with Wonder Bread. We spent most of the day there, then headed to Nephi. We got a lot done that week. I was able to go to lunch with the girls from work on Wednesday. That was a lot of fun.! I miss them. I could just kick myself for not getting my camera (which was in my purse no less) out and getting a picture of us. There was 9 of us total, and it would have been a super keepsake picture...ugh.
We also were able to get Landon an apartment in Provo. He is SO excited.! He's enrolled at UVU (formally UVSC) which is in Orem, but his apartment is closer to BYU. It's a lot of fun where he's at, tons of students, and his apartment has a ton of fun student amenities. He is in a 4 bedroom apartment, which all 4 bedrooms are private. He also has 2 of his friends rooming with him, so that should be interesting.!
Wednesday was the big day....GRADUATION. It was actually one of the most nonboring (I'm sure that's not a word) graduations I've ever been to. The kids' speeches were short and sweet, and the time flew. Landon was voted "Most Energetic" (Hmmm..go figure).
My mom and dad flew in Wednesday morning, so they were able to attend graduation too. The original plan was to go to the zoo on Thursday, but that plan went to pot as it rained and hailed. We froze that whole week, until it was time to go home, of course.
We stayed at our favorite B&B...our friends Steve and Kathy's house.! We went out to dinner and the comedy club with them for Kathy's birthday, on Thursday. That was lots of fun.! Then the long drive home on Friday.....

Josh's Birthday

After Darci's ultrasound, we all got together for a belated birthday party for Josh. He turned 24 on May 23rd, and we were gone, but so was he.! He went to Kanab to go hunting with his dad and brother. We went to a Mexican (as if you couldn't tell) place by Janelle and Joel's called "Macayos". The food was OK, but the atmosphere was fun. McKenna loved all of the colorful animals around the room. Speaking of McKenna, you'll notice her "Ms. Attitude" pose. She puts both hands on her hips, sucks her gut in, pushes her shoulders out (like a body building pose.!) and gives you 'the look'. Oh my gosh...it's stinkin' hilarious.!

Here are these two, getting bigger by the day, which is a good thing. Darci has 5 1/2 weeks left, and Janelle is about 8 weeks behind.

Ainsley in 3-D

It was so interesting to see her in 3-D.! These pictures are out of this world. To watch it on the projection she has on the wall was incredible. I just picked a few pictures out of the many that were taken. We got a really good idea of what she is going to look like. I'll explain a little about what the cute little 'blobs' are, so you can navigate the pictures.

2 + 2 = 4

OK...so it's been a while since my last post. Two months to be exact. I was looking at the cruise pictures, and SO wishing I was there again.
As you'll remember, at Christmas Darci let us know we were going to have grandbaby #3. Since then we found out that the baby is a girl.! Ainsley will be her first name...they are still working on the middle name. Girls are all we know how to produce in this family so far.
On Easter, all of the kids spent the night with us on Saturday. We had a big breakfast, and an Easter lesson that morning. Then it was time to get ready for church. But before that...Janelle told us that Joel had 'something to tell all of us'. Hmmmm.... Joel wasn't talking. So we waited...and stared...and I finally looked at Janelle and said..."Are you pregnant?" Yep....so by September, we will have 4 grandbabies.! Janelle is torturing us by not finding out what this baby is. How am I supposed to shop?? Her ultrasound is this month, so I have a few weeks to still work on her.
Landon has all of his paper work turned in for his Eagle project, so we are just waiting for a date for his Board of Reviews. It'll be nice once it's over.! He decided at the last minute to do track again this year. He's done really well, and has already qualified for state. He's running just about anything he can. The 100, 200, 400, 4 x 4 relay, 4 x 1 relay...you name it, he's running it.
McKenna and Hailee are growing like little weeds. They are both just adorable.
